Fidel Del Toro, DDS PhD

Dr. Del Toro is originally from Cotulla, a small town in South Texas with the population size smaller than the number of students living in the dorm he stayed in while attending The University of Texas at Austin. Following college, Dr. Del Toro attended the Dental School at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Originally planning on pursuing an academic career, Dr. Del Toro attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he participated in both the orthodontic residency program as well as a PhD program. Dr. Del Toro did return to the Dental School in San Antonio where he was a full-time Assistant Professor in Department of Orthodontics. In 1999, Dr. Del Toro could not resist the opportunity to return to Austin to practice orthodontics, but continued teaching at the Dental School in San Antonio in the orthodontic residency program. As an Assistant Clinical Professor Dr. Del Toro has fully enjoyed being a part of educating orthodontists but feels he has benefited most by being able to meet and personally recruit Dr. Kimes to join him at both the Bee Cave and Circle C offices.

“One of the best moments for me is when a patient sees themselves right after braces are removed. There is a lot of joy in that moment. From my perspective, a great smile can have such an impact on a patient’s self-confidence and image so it feels great to think I’ve had a positive impact on their lives and hopefully I’m contributing to a successful future!” – Fidel Del Toro, DDS, PhD
